[ removed emotions... ooooh, that's good. that's very good. ]
Yeah, well. Fight's what I'm good at.
[ she says, a little flatly, rolling her shoulders. she punches her fists together once before taking the blade, holding it in her gauntlet. the scarf goes around her neck, and she moves towards the cave, not really thinking about it much further. man, she could really use a hack and slash. she's all about this. the violence is practically trying to crawl out of her spine. stress relief!
she will lead the way in, swinging her sword once before confidently making her way down the green-fire walkway. ]
[ We love fighting in this house! (Except for Miyu, please let the baby go home.) As the crew ventures into the walkway, they’ll find themselves in an open room. The walkways are crumbling stone paths surrounded by what appears to be a mixture of blood and lava on all sides. Several of those same ghost-like figures loom around the corners of the room, walking and minding their own business. It’s a pretty straight shot to the door at the end of the hall, though in your path you see a few strong pillars, columns, and archways.
As you walk though, you will find something bright, heavy and golden rocketing down to the ground before you. The gold gives way to something blue, an owl symbol spinning in the center at a slow pace. Touch it?
You may also continue pressing forward and scoping the area. After all, again, the door is right there. ]
vi should know better than to just touch random things that rocket out of space right in front of you but like, whatever. act first think later. she immediately touches the owl symbol. yeet. ]
[ Imagine if I said you all died because Vi touched the thing. I would never be that nice to you though, so here’s the haps.
As Kiruko and Nine start scoping out the area, they will notice there are some darker shadows that appear to be pacing back and forth in front of the door, disappearing behind archways and reappearing behind pillars. Whatever these creatures are, they haven’t taken shape yet, but they aren't leaving either. Maybe it was smart of you to check things out.
Meanwhile, the blue light glows brighter and soon the manifestation of a woman appears before you. Well. You think it’s a woman. It’s a little difficult to tell with the light, but she nods. ]
Greetings, noble vacationers. Attempting another escape? I do love when a plan comes together… and so to help you on your journey, please have my blessing.
[ Another burst of light appears, and three blue diamonds float before you.
Strategic Reasoning: Gain a first strike advantage on enemies and learn their weaknesses.
Pride: Cast influence over your enemies for a chance to turn them against themselves. Your confidence will bolster this by +2
Gift of Plenty: Lend your strength to an ally whose health is depleting.
You may only choose one for the whole group… pick wisely. ]
there's something about this blue shape that gets her brain itchy, but she ignores it. instead, she looks over the diamonds... and then glances over at the other three. ]
What do you think? I'm thinking the pride one. If we can make all of them fight each other, it'll be easier to pick them off.
[ and she refuses to let anybody get hurt so the last one doesn't matter "this is a cyoa they will get hurt" DOESN'T MATTER ]
[ but she nods. two votes in favor so she doesn't want to be a dissenting vote. ]
It would limit our enemies. [ though this does. sort of confirm there will be enemies. (the weapons did not necessarily confirm this to her, somehow.) ]
[ Waman… with the group’s blessing, you may reach out and select Pride. This boon is granted to all four of you. May you use it well. The other two boons fade away, and the woman’s image begins to dissipate as well. ]
Best of luck, vacationers. I may be the first, but I will not be the last.
[ So if you have questions, ask somebody else. As she fades away, the monsters ahead begin to manifest and come to life. They appear to be big, bulbous creatures in a sickening shade of neon orange, almost like they themselves are on fire. They’re pacing, keeping guard in front of the door to block you from the inside.
I was going to say perhaps they don’t notice you yet, but with a nat20 they not only notice, they immediately give a horrible rumbling noise before they appear to enlarge, growing taller and wobbling before they zip forward at mach fuck to ram into all four of you, attempting to burn, pin, and disarm you. One of them rams into a pillar though, attempting to bring it down on whoever is closest.
anyway, vi watches as the horrible bulbous neon orange creatures shamble at top speeds towards them, and she is, as always, a tank. so instinctively, she throws herself in front of whatever creatures are trying to go for the squishy gun shooters, using one Fist to try and slam it into a creature's face, before swinging the greatsword around and trying to push another one across the room.
granted, she is only one vi, so the monsters absolutely will get past her, but she tries anyway.
she also forgot about the pride power like immediately. oops. ]
[ kiruko has to lunge away from the pillar as it goes down, out of the safety of cover and... into the path of a flaming foe. it lashes out, scorching one leg, before kiruko recovers and looses the prepared arrow right in its flamey face (if it has a face). ]
[ okay well a rocket launcher doesn't really help her here because she HAS in fact learned that most people will get injured in explosions!!! so she's pulling out her sniper rifle instead.
she only has three bullets but she is so unused to the limitation that she doesn't think about preserving them for later? she just pew pew pews to snipe three of the most open targets before they can get any closer. ]
[ what's using tactics? he's just going to run at them before they get to him. bringing up his trident to try to stab the creature as it tries to burn him. ]
[ They’re just minding their own business and being good little guards? Okay, yeah, no, they are really determined to slow you down here. Vi uses a Fist to slam into a monster, and while its arm (?) reaches out to push her away, singing part of her hair, the greatsword knocks back another monster as it bounces toward Kiruko.
Kiruko’s arrow is set and the arrow flies, slamming into the creatures face as it wails in agony, waving its arms and lighting the floor on fire to box them in. They’ll have to dash through the flames to get closer to the door, if nobody else rescues them. Of course there’s also the monster that was pushed across the room, but with Miyu opening fire? It seems as if they won’t have to worry.
Miyu might though. Girl, your bullets? They blast a hole through the creatures enough that they stop, looking down at their new holes before they melt into oozy, lava-y goop.
The creature that rams at Nine swipes, grazing his arm holding the trident but not making much of a burn as its stabbed by the pointed end. with a direct hit, it seems to stick onto the pole though. Like a roasted marshmallow on a stick over an open flame… hm.
At least the path to the door is more clear, but you may want to figure out what to do when the creatures begin to round on you again, ready to lash out and swipe. ]
but it's okay, she takes the slight singe without issue, and chases after the thing that is trying to push her away. she's going to just beat the shit out of this thing best she can, not really caring about if it burns her or not. slappy hands.
she'll try to clear a path for them, to get to the door. if she can, she'll slap some of the rushing monsters at walls, trying to ram them into a solid surface to disorient them. maybe at some of the pillars? die, pillars. ]
well, fuck. kiruko sees the flames blocking the way and makes a split-second decision, throwing the bow towards the door and then charging after it, jumping through the flames and immediately rolling on the ground to extinguish any burning clothing before grabbing the bow again, nocking another arrow, and turning around to fire it at one of the creatures to keep them from closing in on their exit. ]
Let's move!
[ kiruko's ready to go for that door as soon as the others are safe and nearby. ]
[ running through flames isn't scary at all so she just does this without hesitation?! it's fine she's probably invincible. (she's not.) once she's past she's just trying to go unnoticed by the monsters and inch closer to the door. this should be her specialty, in theory?
but she's facing the way they came from, aiming the rocket launcher now. ]
I'll stop them from following.
[ if everyone makes it past her then she'll fire off the rocket launcher behind them. no chasing! ]
he's going to further impale it, before trying to swing himself around with the thing still attached to his polearm in an attempt to hurl the marshmallow'd creature at one of the other magna beasts. ]
Don't have to tell me twice, yo.
[ if he's successful and still has his polearm, he is definitely going to be using it to hit any of the monsters to help clear the path and get behind miyu ]
[ Considering this is your first floor, and you’re working together, you’re actually doing fairly decently. Monsters slam into walls, some are shot with arrows, and some are impaled and thrown. The rocket launcher isn’t necessary as more and more monsters explode into fiery bursts that splash the magma across the stone.
As the four of you approach the door, a dark purple jewel hands in suspension in front of the stone. With the four of you here, the door rumbles and the stone cracks.
The door gives way, opening up to a new room.
This room is much larger, and it isn’t a straight shot to the door. From where you stand, you can see a path ahead, and a path to your left. The path to your left appears to be the beginning of the route leading toward two exit doors. Ahead of you are a few holes in the floor, and looking below you’ll see an endless abyss. Don’t fall!
You probably shouldn’t stand around for too long though. This time when the monsters appear, they’re the same sickly orange color, but they’re tall, long, and their limbs wiggle every which way. They pace back and forth in the same spots, guarding your paths. But you can probably take them, right? ]
