[community profile] finaldestinations is a short-termed murder mystery game set at an exquisite vacation destination in a universe separate from your own. Characters will arrive on-site remembering they've been ushered from their homes for an all-expenses-paid trip, and subsequently remember the near-fatal accident that almost occurred on their way here. With two weeks to relax and unwind, they will be able to spend their days enjoying the city's amenities and mingling with their fellow vacationers.

If they can dodge danger, that is.

This game is loosely based on the Mafia party game, though we will be changing a few things as necessary for this game's particular play style.

Due to the nature of the game, at least one person will be killed per week purposefully. That doesn't even count the many, many ways a person can die off-schedule. After all, accidents happen all the time!

Each week of the game, characters will be tasked with choosing a guilty party and solving the mystery of that week. In addition, characters may come to find that there are other things occurring behind the scenes that can (and will) stand in their way.

SCHEDULE

Our current schedule is as follows:

Interest Check:

4/14
Reserves:

4/15
Apps:

4/18-4/23

Game Start:

4/26

Game End:

5/10

MONDAY: Each Monday will begin with a weekly mingle post and new locations for characters to interact with. These mingles and updated locations will go up at 9am PST.

THURSDAY: On Thursday morning at 7am PST we will unscreen the weekly curfew toplevel for players to reply to! This is the time to tell your mods where your character will be staying during the hours kills may occur. For the purpose of this game, we do ask that players submit their curfew no later than 4pm PST. If you are not able to submit a comment yourself during those hours due to work, etc, we will also allow players to include other characters in their comment. For example, if player B can’t submit their comment but plans to spend curfew with player A, player A may submit a comment stating: “A & B will be in X!”

We do not accept late curfew posts to be included in the bonus mechanic! More information will be available once the curfew mechanic kicks in.

FRIDAY: Friday will be body announcement day! What this means is that an IC announcement will go up at 12pm PST for the group to learn the name(s) of the victim(s) for the week. We will not be hosting a traditional investigation on these days, but some additional information will be provided at that time.

SATURDAY: We’re sure you’ll all be very shocked to learn that Saturday is Trial Day! All characters will be required to attend ICly and we do ask that players are available for these days. If you need to miss a trial, please let us know at least 48 hours in advance so we may plan accordingly! Trials will begin at 9am PST and will end at 6pm PST unless stated otherwise. A one hour break will also take place at 1pm PST for players to step away for lunch/dinner, and for mod tags to pause. ICly characters will not be able to leave the trial unless ICly dismissed early.

Since we're not hosting traditional investigations on Fridays, trial days will also be the time characters can begin to explore the setting to look for clues, test theories, and start to piece together the crime committed in order to narrow it down to a potential culprit.

IC voting will be live at the start of the trial and close at the end. Once the vote is closed, we will announce the party with the majority of votes.

SUNDAY: Sundays will be execution day! This is the day in which a selected party will come forward to execute the character with the majority of votes. While executions are not mandatory the way trials are, they are open to the public to witness. Executions will begin at 10am PST.

This cycle repeats until we hit an ending to the game!

FAQ

What is the pacing of the game?

Our game will be running on a 1:1 schedule and functioning on PST. Please refer to the above timeline for when important posts will go up.

Do I have to be present for every trial?

If something comes up and you are unable to be present for a trial, please let us know in advance! We prefer 48 hours in advance (minimum 24 unless it's an emergency), but if you come to us really early before the trial starts or in the first hour of the trial we will be a bit lenient. If you do not let us know in advance, you will be killed off in-game. Please try to be here for both trials given how short the game is!

How long will the game last?

Two weeks from start to finish! Should a player need to leave the game prior to endgame, please speak with the mod team and we will discuss the next steps with you.

If I die early what happens next?

Imagine if we said you're just stuck doing nothing after death. Show's over, peace out. But in all seriousness, we will have a graveyard for characters to continue playing in and participating in! You can do open threads on the main graveyard post, or you may have private conversations with other dead characters. In addition, characters in the graveyard will be presented with opportunities the living side does not have access to.

Private conversations?

Private conversations! Sometimes your character (or a group of characters) will want to get together with people to spend time together or share information or whatever. This would become a private conversation that isn't shared with the game at large. Please check out the private conversations page for information on how to set up journal filters and more.

How active do I have to be?

We like to see that players are participating either via weekly mingles, private threads, or both in addition to participation in trials! The game functions best when all players are active and engaging, so please keep this in mind when apping in! We ask that your time be managed well. Please note that if the mod team notices a lack of overall engagement, we may reach out to check in and discuss options with you for continued play.

How do I contact the mod team for any questions/concerns/murder plans?

We will be operating primarily on Discord, so please be sure to create a group chat with Anais, Ty and Zetsu! Discord is the most effective method for all of your mods, and our Discord handles will be available in the group server.

RULES
1.) Please be nice! This is a game specifically created with the intention of all of our friends playing together in a fun environment, so we would really love for our friends to treat each other well. Please remember that IC =/= OOC and while murdergames can be competitive we ask that everyone treats everyone else with respect.

1.5.) We understand that things can get a little heated at times when tensions and emotions run high in-game. We ask that you please come speak to your mods for any issues or concerns. Please keep in mind that mods may step in to mitigate as needed.

2.) Please be active! Yes, we've said it like six times in this page alone but this is a Very Big Thing! The game cannot and will not function to its full potential if players are not engaging. Please feel free to come speak to us if you're having trouble integrating or to brainstorm ideas to help with activity.

3.) This is a murdergame which means your character is just as likely to die as the next. If your character is chosen to be a victim that week, they will be sent to the chopping block. Please be a good sport if you are selected to be killed. Even if you may feel disappointed or your character is upset, be mindful not to take it out on anyone OOCly.

3.5.) In this same vein, please remember that IC =/= OOC and all details of a case should only be shared amongst the culprit, the victim and the mod team. If you want to involve another player in your case, please speak to the mods first and we can discuss options!

4.) At this time, canon powers/abilities are nerfed! While your character may be the strongest most powerful person in their canon it will not mean much here. Oops. Please see our application template for any exceptions.

5.) Finally, if at any time you have concerns or feel uncomfortable about something in-game please contact us! As this is a game of our friends, we hope that you guys will come talk to us immediately so that we can get things straightened out and help where we can. Please do not feel as though any concern is too small or insignificant. This also goes for any in-game changes you would like to see! Feel free to pitch us ideas if your character would like to pursue something so we can brainstorm together. As mods, we're here to help make everyone feel welcome and have a good time and at the end of the day we're just as invested as you guys are.
